Ost-Passage Theater e.V., was established to promote artistic, managerial, and educational leadership for theater. The organization develops new methods of work, resources, and information  and acts in productions and training.

The organization has developed a theater for the neighborhood in the east of Leipzig (Saxonia, Germany), which is for the neighborhood and intends to involve neighbors in the theater performances, concerts, exhibitions that are held there. “Neighbours” is understood as everybody, from a grandmother to a small child, refugees, migrants, differently/specially abled people, old people, young people, people of all races and ethinicities, working people and unemployed persons, students, artists, foolish people, intellectuals, etc. It is a theater for everybody, a theater that brings the themes from everybody on stage and reveals the talents and gifts of the neighborhood.

So, it’s not an abstract intellectual theater, but it’s open for and made by and for everybody; it’s a meeting place, a social and cultural center, a network and point of intersection for the neighborhood and the city.

Its world depends on confident, internationally-minded, collaborative and culturally literate young people who are empowered to engage with and change the world. It brings together young people, artists and teachers from different countries in different settings to experience, create and learn about theater. Furthermore, it produces and runs events each year designed to inspire and engage young people, youth workers, students and teachers alike.

From festivals to inspiring workshops, all the events are designed to leave lasting memories and transform the lives of everyone who takes part. The theater experience permits the meeting and favourization of socialisation between young and adult people from totally different backgrounds.

It makes the life experience more remarkable and unforgettable because it is much more varied and unique. It allows for greater understanding and for people to see and share things from a different perspective.
